Furthermore, a teacher of the R. C. School approached us with the plea to buy glasses for a very intelligent girl. We invited the teacher and the 15 years old Mavis to us to speak with her. She told us that she has often been having head aches and stinging eyes for over a year. According to her, she can not read what is written on the blackboard in school and cannot really keep up in class. The teacher sent her to an eye specialist. Mavis was examined and the results proved that she needs glasses. The glasses cost 200 Ghana Cedis, which her parents cannot afford. FAF has paid for the reading glasses for her, and a week later we have seen a visibly relaxed and happy Mavis without red eyes.
